✦ A Handmade Piece Built Around a Vintage Cameo I Truly Loved
This necklace was made by hand around a vintage cameo I had kept aside for quite some time.
I have collected a number of loose cameo carvings over the years, especially scenic pieces and family subjects, and I had always wanted to turn one into a warm, wearable pendant by hand. To me, pearls are the most natural companion to a cameo — soft, luminous, and full of quiet elegance.

This piece brings those two elements together: a large vintage cameo and a gently glowing pearl necklace, made to feel feminine, romantic, and deeply personal.

⭐ Mother and Child – A Tender Family Scene
The cameo shows a young mother and child, captured in an intimate, affectionate moment.
What drew me to this carving was the expression between them — the mother’s gentle, protective gaze, and the child’s quiet closeness. It has that rare emotional quality that makes some cameos feel less like decoration and more like a small story preserved in relief.

I have always been especially drawn to unusual narrative subjects — mother and child scenes, pastoral outings, cherubs and family-themed carvings — and this one felt impossible to ignore.

💛 Pearls and Cameo – A Soft, Romantic Combination
I chose irregular pearls for this necklace because I wanted the piece to feel warm rather than overly formal.
The soft lustre of the pearls works beautifully with the pale blush tone of the cameo, giving the whole necklace a calm, graceful presence. The pendant is also removable, so it can be worn in different ways depending on how you like to style it.

The necklace is finished with a 925 silver gilt clasp. The cameo itself is a vintage loose carving that I set by hand as part of this design.

✦ Collector’s Note
This cameo is a larger piece that I bought many years ago from an Italian carver known for figure subjects and family-themed scenes.
It remains one of the carvings that stayed with me the longest before I finally decided to make it into jewellery. There are no cracks to the cameo itself, though there is some visible age-related wear around the edge — something I chose to keep, as it speaks to the age and journey of the piece rather than taking away from its beauty.

This is not a mass-made necklace. It is a hand-finished piece built around an older carving I genuinely loved, and made for someone who feels the same tenderness in it that I did.
